Partners

First Sparks is working with a number of partners to source the funds and resources that will directly address the challenges that the schools in Zambia are facing. For further details on how the partners are helping, see below.

Oxford University Press (OUP)

There is a drastic shortage of books in Zambia, and although the supply has started to improve, this is only for certain subjects and the quality is quite poor.

Even where books are available, children are not allowed to use them outside of school, and they must be kept locked away during school hours, unless signed out for use. So there’s no studying at home and only limited access to resources even when the children are at school.

To help overcome this, OUP (Oxford University Press), the world leader in English Language Teaching (ELT), has offered support by donating resource books to the schools. This will make more and better quality textbooks available for all of the children attending Mkasanga and Yosefe, where English is the primary language of instruction.
