The story so far…

Promethean is a leader in the education technology field, but the company’s passion for education goes way beyond this. From understanding the needs of teachers and students to supporting and improving the learning environment, everything about Promethean is grounded in education.

In touch with teaching and learning communities worldwide, Promethean recognises the indigenous demands and challenges that different countries face – and it was in response to this that the First Sparks project was established.

The objective of First Sparks is quite simple – to give less fortunate children access to education. Zambia was identified for the project because, even if a child does enter the school system, the majority fail to go on to a higher level and face daily practical challenges such as:

Two schools facing severe operational challenges are Mkasanga and Yosefe in the Luangwa Valley, Zambia. Working through Families Worldwide in the UK, the First Sparks project has adopted these schools and put funding in place for the next two years that will give them maximum long-term benefit. The schools have very different needs, so an individual funding strategy has been put in place for each of them. To find out more, visit the school pages.
