Yosefe Basic School

Like Mkasanga, Yosefe is a basic school, which means it teaches students for the first nine years of education. The school currently has approximately 926 pupils, of which 291 are orphans. This means that over 30% of students are orphans – significantly higher than the national average of 10%.

As part of a whole school Health and Hygiene Policy, the school operates an ongoing AIDS education programme. There are also Gender Equality programmes in place, which are designed to encourage girls to stay in school and help break the poverty cycle. Rose Jere  is just one success story, having developed herself through education to become the first ever Zambian lady to qualify as a Grade 2 Safari Guide
